Jumbotron vs LED screen panels

A Jumbotron is widely known as a giant screen typically used in large venues such as stadiums and arenas.
Think of it as a TV screen, but hundreds of times bigger.

Used for close-up shots, player profiles, and crowd entertainment, it’s now an integral part of sporting events. But despite its popularity for displaying images of large events without projection, LED video walls have been replacing conventional Jumbotron screens, primarily because of the inferior image resolution.

This technology is also lighter and smaller than the Jumbotron, but there are more benefits:

More cost-effective and environmentally friendly, saving about 40% of energy.
Mercury-free technology that does not pollute the environment.
LED panels are adaptable, and can customize and personalize content for different uses and situations.
Superior image quality with sharper contrast and a wider color palette.

Replacing old Jumbotron with Big LED screens

LED screens have already replaced modern Jumbotrons. However, if we compare the original Jumbotron with the modern LED wall, we can see the following major differences between them:

Better viewing angles: Compared to a standard traditional display system, LED panels have better viewing angles. It's ideal for larger spaces. This means fewer screens are necessary.
Energy efficiency: LED screens are the best choice when it comes to power consumption . Compared to the power hungry Jumbotrons of the past, this modern technology uses less electricity. With regular usage, you can save a lot of money.
Image Resolution: The Jumbotron and LED wall are large, but when it comes to higher quality images, the latter has a higher resolution. Led display panels are the best choice for detailed graphics and close-up views.
Custom sizes: Big LED screens are made of small panels. That's why they can be customized into different shapes and sizes. It's easy to adapt to the dimensions and installation requirements of any venue.
Cost factor: Standard Jumbotrons are expensive to produce and maintain. This is due to their older technology. Meanwhile, with many AV companies offering them locally, LED walls are more affordable and accessible.

Traditional Jumbotron screens are being replaced by LED screen panels, primarily because their image resolution is not the best, despite their widespread use in displaying images of large events without projection. The lighter weight and smaller size of this technology compared to the Jumbotron is another advantage. Other benefits:

They are more cost-effective and environmentally friendly because they save approximately 40% of energy.
They do not pollute the environment because their technology does not contain mercury.
They are adaptable, able to adapt and personalize their contents for various uses and situations.
They have superior image quality, with sharper contrasts and a broader color palette.

LED display panels are estimated to have 45 times more pixels than Jumbotron displays. These previously utilized cathode ray tubes, but have since transitioned to light-emitting diode panels (pure blue and green).

Why you should choose a LED Wall

LED Wall screens have undeniable advantages over previous technology. First and foremost, their longevity, is ten times that of CRT-based systems. What else should be considered when selecting a quality LED screen?

It would be preferable if they had local dimming (a system that improves lighting locally through several light sources in different areas of the screen to avoid dark spots). Thus, the greater the number of illumination zones, the brighter and higher quality of the image.
Consider the “pitch,” which is the optimal viewing distance from the front of the screen. The closer an individual is to it, the smaller the pitch.
Accordingly, the minimum distance between the viewer and the screen is calculated to be three times the diagonal of the product.
Minimal response time is desired.
The refresh rate should be as high as possible in hertz (Hz).
Also, the brightness and contrast should be high.
High resolution is required. 1080p is calculated for HD and Full HD.
Ideal inputs would include USB, HDMI (for DVD and external multimedia disks), and DTT.
Big LED screens are High Definition; they are pre-designed to reproduce images with a high resolution via the DVI or HDMI interface.

In turn, the major brands have designed various types of LED walls, which, despite having identical specifications, can be divided into two categories: Outdoor led panels include television screens and monitors. By virtue of their internal structure, indoor screen panels can be joined to form giant screens for a variety of purposes.

Another example is the Churchill Downs racetrack in the United States, where a large LED panel was installed a few years ago so that spectators can view the race broadcast from anywhere in the venue. It is a 4K LED Big Board measuring 52.12 x 27.43 meters and installed approximately 80 meters above the ground. This creates a viewing area of over 4,600 square meters.

Additionally, live-streaming video of the event can be displayed on an LED wall. This allows everyone to see every detail of what is happening, even if they are not directly in front of the stage.

But, what else should be considered when selecting a quality LED screen?

It would be preferable if they had local dimming (a system that improves lighting locally through several light sources in different areas of the screen to avoid dark spots). Thus, the greater the number of illumination zones, the brighter and higher quality of the image.

Our business was in the market for a large LED wall for our expo center. The goal was to get something clear 1.9 mm ,reasonable, free standing or truss mount if needed. I Had quotes from multiple local vendors and the price was high. Also a few months out for the gear to come in. Found LED MARKET and they had everything in stock ready to go with helpful videos online for set up and tear down. The LED wall also came with road cases which is very helpful for storage. We have had it a few months now and have put it up and taken it down about 10 times. All is still working and fits together like new. Great product and would definitely buy from them again.

I originally received hanging bars that were rusty and poorly powder coated. After sending them back, the replacements unfortunately had many of the same quality issues. Because of that experience, I left a one-star review.
The following morning, the company's CEO, CJ, personally called me to ask what he could do to make things right. I told him all I really wanted was a set of quality hanging bars with a durable finish that wouldn't flake off. He immediately offered several options, including a full refund, a free replacement box of bars, or anything else he could do to make things right. He even gave me his personal number and said "If you ever have ANY issues you can call me, save this number".
That conversation completely changed my impression of the company. I went from feeling like just another customer to feeling like they genuinely value the people who choose their products over the competition. While the initial quality issue was disappointing, CJ's willingness to personally take responsibility and resolve the situation speaks volumes about the company's commitment to customer satisfaction.
Because of how the issue was handled, I've updated my review from one star to five stars. I'll continue purchasing LED products from this company, and I wish more businesses approached customer service the way CJ did—by listening, taking ownership, and making things right.

From my recent research in preparation to purchase a LED Display (video wall) for our church, I found out that the LED display market is a very vast market with variable products and several vendors. After about 2-3 weeks of surfing the market and products, I was almost about to settle with buying from a particular vendor, when I stumbled on the company called LED MARKET.
